Opened in 2013, Kosicek Vineyards was started by the Kosicek family who had been farming grapes for 3 generations along Lake Erie. This Winery offers over 20 different types of wines made from grapes that are estate grown or locally grown and crafted on site.
During my visit, I tried a sample of 4 wines, my favorite was the Rhapsody which is a blend of Pinot Noir & Reisling done in a bubbly, champagne style that really impressed me. It was just sweet enough without being too sweet and had a very nice smooth almost strawberry flavor. I don’t think I have ever tried a locally made champagne-style wine, I’m not sure that anyone else even makes one in this area.
I also tried the 534, Niagra and Reisling, all of which I enjoyed. Kosicek Vineyards truly does an amazing job making wines to suit any palate. I also enjoy the creative labels & bottle names, like the 534 & I-90 that are named after local roads & the Dam red and white that are named after the Dam at the nearby Harpersfield Covered Bridge.
Nestled back in the rolling hills of the Grand River Valley, Kosicek vineyards offers panoramic views of vineyards and sometimes, on a clear day you can even see Lake Erie. Inside there is a cozy, intimate tasting room with an inviting fireplace and a friendly staff. Kosicek Vineyards has a wonderful spacious outdoor patio to kick back at, relax and sip wine with your friends. They also have their own corn hole court if you are feeling a bit competitive.
Kosicek Vineyards also offers a small menu of appetizers & desserts to pair with your favorite wine! Bring your friends and try some wines!
