Affelder Falls is a hidden gem in Ohio that was not always so easily accessible, as it would formerly require hiking off-trail and upstream from the Affelder House. In 2016, the Geauga Parks system constructed a quarter-mile long waterfall trail, which conveniently connected the Affelder House to the Affelder Link Trail, passing directly over the falls.
The Gildersleeve mountain, at its peak sits 593 feet above Lake Erie, and 1,163 feet above sea level. Its northern slopes transition down the Portage Escarpment to the Erie Plain. The Sharon Conglomerate ledges are a huge part of this, offering incredible views as you will see below:
